How we collect, use, share and protect your personal information. Effective October 23, 2026.
Careers Expert Group Pty Ltd, an Australian company trading as Careers Expert Group (“we”, “us”, “our”), provides executive career transition services, including executive resumes, LinkedIn profiles, positioning and transition programs, interview coaching by video and free executive resume assessments. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit www.careersexpert.ca or use our services in Canada, in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, including those of Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.
The personal information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It may include:
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, immigration status or criminal history. If a document you send us contains it, we use it only as needed to provide the service you requested, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
We collect most information directly from you: when you complete a form or upload your resume on our website, request a free executive resume assessment, book a consultation through Calendly, speak with us by phone or video, or email us. We may also receive information from others with your knowledge, for example an employer that arranges transition support for you, and from publicly available sources such as your public LinkedIn profile. We collect technical information automatically when you use our website.
You can make a general inquiry without giving us much detail, but we cannot assess your resume or provide our services without identifying you.
We use your personal information to:
We will never approach a search firm, employer, board or recruiter on your behalf, or share your resume with them, without your agreement.
We use software tools, including AI-assisted drafting tools such as services provided by Anthropic, to help us review resumes and prepare first drafts of assessments, documents and research. A member of our team reviews this work before anything is sent to you, and decisions about your service are made by people. Our AI providers process your information on our behalf under terms that do not permit them to use it to train their models.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We disclose it only as needed to run our business and provide our services, to:
Careers Expert Group Pty Ltd is based in Australia, and our team and service providers operate in several countries. Your personal information may therefore be transferred to, stored and processed in Australia and other countries outside Canada, where it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of those countries. Wherever your information is processed, we protect it as described in this policy and through our contracts with service providers.
Our website uses cookies, pixels and similar technologies to work properly, understand how it is used, and show and measure our advertising, including tools provided by Google and LinkedIn. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, device, browser and the pages you visit. We do not sell personal information. You can opt out of advertising cookies at any time through the privacy choices link on our website, by turning on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser, which we honour as an opt-out request for that browser, or by emailing us. Because there is no common standard for browser “Do Not Track” signals, we do not respond to them, but we do honour GPC. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser and manage ad personalization in your Google and LinkedIn account settings. Some parts of the site may not work as intended if cookies are disabled.
Our website and services are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure or alteration, including access controls and secure, encrypted services. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of your information. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to provide our services, for the purposes described in this policy and to meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations, then securely delete or de-identify it. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you where required by law.
Under Canadian privacy law you have the right to: know what personal information we hold about you and how we use and disclose it; access it; have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected; and withdraw your consent to our use of it, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some services. If you live in Quebec, you may also have the right to receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format and to ask us to stop disseminating it. We will honour these rights, subject to the exceptions the law allows.
To exercise your rights, email us at support@careersexpert.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We need to verify your identity before we act on a request, usually by matching information you give us with the information we hold, and we may ask for more details. You can authorize someone to make a request for you; we may ask for proof of that authority and ask you to verify your identity directly with us. We respond within 30 days, and will tell you if we need more time as the law allows. If we decline your request, we will explain why. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request or your personal information, you can contact our Privacy Officer, or complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the privacy commissioner in your province where provincial law applies, at priv.gc.ca.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page with its "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example by posting a notice on our website.
